I must confess I hate the word “Super Foods” It seems to conjure up some miracle foods that we can’t live without. If only!!….. I truly wish this was true. The fact is good food is all super.
If you want to look at sensible foods that are good for us don’t go past the humble egg.
Here are a few facts to look at:
Eggs are loaded with high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals, good fats and various trace nutrients.
A large egg contains:
- Only 77 calories, with 5 grams of fat and 6 grams of protein with all 9 essential amino acids.
- Rich in iron, phosphorous, selenium and vitamins A, B12, B2 and B5 (among others).
Eggs score high on a scale called the Satiety Index, which means that eggs are particularly capable of making you feel full so you tend to eat less overall calories.
