Liver Cleansing –Is it possible?

Firstly, you are not a walking talking toxin filled human that needs to rid yourself of nasty toxins. In fact your body is not full of toxic material. When we do ingest unwanted products, like processed foods, additives, preservatives polluted air and chemical enhanced foods our liver and kidneys are designed to handle these and I must say do a far better job than any product a salesman tries to sell you. So in most cases our system does a great job of this for us. So information about our livers needing to be cleansed is not entirely true. We shouldn’t follow a one off diet of “what to do to cleanse your liver” what we should do is just eat a healthy diet in the first instance. Our livers do get overloaded if we continue to eat fatty foods, ingest chemicals from food and pollutants from the air we breathe. Going on a liver cleansing diet is a very simplistic approach to sorting out our health and while you may feel a bit better it is far wiser just to eat well rather than do horrible things in a crazy “Liver Cleansing Diet”. Part of these crazy schemes involves ingesting lemon juice which makes the gallbladder produce more bile into the stomach. This you will be told is “your body cleansing the liver,” NO!…. It is your gallbladder producing bile into an empty stomach that doesn’t require it giving you a very sick feeling in your stomach. Our bodies have a great way of functioning very well on their own simply by us feeding them with a good mix of low fat proteins, good carbohydrates, clean water, fresh vegetables and some fruit and nuts. If we eliminate as many preservative and additives from processed foods and eat as natural as possible our bodies should simply do the rest for us. People who try crazy diets normally over do it by placing in their body too much of just one or two things. The human body needs a variety of food and we need to be careful not too over eat. Avoid takeaways, avoid Trans fats, too much saturated fats (we do some saturated fat), cakes, biscuits, lollies, artificial sweeteners, added colours and keep alcohol to a minimum. When we consume too much exotic ancient food, magic powders and mystical healing foods we normally miss the real nutrients in everyday fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts, meats, good oil and carbohydrates.  Simply put the liver is a cleansing organ and can do the job perfectly if you just leave it alone and eat well. While there are many people who will sing the praises of certain products where they tell us we need more of this or that the truth is none of this is necessary if we just eat well.  I have seen more people get sick from crazy supplements and so called magic food because often they are lacking essential nutrients ordinary everyday foods give us.

All you need to do is look around you. Everyone eventually dies and no magic food or supplement will make you live longer. Those who are fortunate to live a long life are people who eat a variety of food, don’t stress, exercise in moderation, work in a job they love, meditate, laugh a lot and have a really good genetic pool from which they were created. Save your money and enjoy a good range of food with friends, live and walk in an unpolluted area and just take the time to smell the roses.  Hopefully this will keep you well placed to live your life out without too many dramas.
