About 7 percent of people who develop cancer throughout theirlife are believed to have been born with a genetic predisposition to this disease.
The good news is however that just because you are born with this predisposition, does not necessarily mean that you will develop the disease.
It is important that you look at your history and document any family history. If your family history includes a long association with this disease then consult your family doctor about preventive measures and regular check ups. Today, cancer is not always a death sentence but you would be wise to keep a check on your health. Your doctor will also advise you on whether genetic screening is required.
